Netherfield Infant School and Nursery

‘Working together to be the best that we can be’

Bay - Mrs Turner

Welcome to Bay Class - Year 1/ Year 2

Mrs Turner and Mrs Croshaw would like to welcome you to our class page.

Our topic for the first half of the Autumn term will be based around the story, Bog Baby.

As part of our History work we will be thinking about what Bog Baby will look like when he is older. We will also be comparing photographs of ourselves as babies and what we look like now. Please could you send in photographs of your child as a baby so that we can complete this activity.

Homework

Your child will bring home two books; a reading book which is matched to their reading ability and a choosing book to share and enjoy. Please encourage your child to read regularly.

High Frequency Words will be sent home every Friday. There are 100 HFW that your child needs to be able to read. Please help your child practise reading these words. Later on in the Autumn term we will also send spellings home to learn.

In our class we love to sing nursery rhymes . Here is the link if you would like to sing them at home.

Each day your child will require their reading bag, PE kit and water bottle in school.

Please can you make sure their name is on all PE kits and uniform as we have found some clothes which unfortunately do not have names in and no-one has claimed them. Please check our lost property box located in the hall if you have any missing items.

P.E days are Mondays and Fridays.

Phonics Screening

All children in Year 1 will take the Phonics Check during June. Any Year 2 children who didn't pass will retake the test.

Below is a link to Phonics screening materials.
